Build highlight: ONO City by gusono

Sometimes I see a map that wows me by it’s design, uniqueness or determination. ONO City, a SOLO build first published over 10 years ago, is definitely one of these! With a striking design like a future-brutalist Mirrors Edge, this project is worth your time…

MAP DESIGN:

Proclaimed to be among the largest solo city projects, the city comes with a free download, extensive infrastructure, Olympic stadiums, airport, University, temple, monorail system and countless buildings (‘a few are almost accurate copies of real-life towers.’). There doesn’t appear to be an interior. Modern shapes of all manner make up the skyline, mainly clean whites and glass.

The online descriptions are sparse so you’ll have to explore it yourself! The city makes use of the Modern HD Pack textures.

Though impressive, the mega-city stands huge and empty, giving an eerie liminal space feel in the single official YT video:

MAP UPDATES:

The maker’s Instagram, which promises more frequent updates, has been inactive for almost 3 years. Not all hope is lost though, as updates are infrequent and the last ones were 3 and 6 years ago! That’s 11 years of work; The ONO City description correctly states the project is in the works for 11 years, which may imply it’s still maintained and can drop another update in the future.
