MINECRAFT LIVE 29 MAY: Sequels, sequels, Chaos Cubed drop… (Summary list)

Didn’t we have a MC LIVE in March..? Yes, but this one’s a special one-off for Twitch Con!

For some reason, the “normal” stream cut off at the end of the Midoffs speedrunning tournament/pre-show. So the only MC LIVE stream seemed to be a horizontal video WITHIN A VERTICAL VIDEO FRAME, with random looped animations at the bottom…

Anyway, Your Minecraft Live summary notes: The show featured news, advertising and over-the-top positivity as always.

A Minecraft Movie Squared

• That’s the title, revealed in a fun “stream hacker” stunt!
• Jared Hess is back to direct. While Jack Black and Jason Momoa presented some info, Steve will be Matt Berry? Alex will be Kristen Dunst! And there will be focus on new mobs like explosive creepers. The crew is back filming in New Zealand.
• This segment featured the man, myth and legend Jens Bergensten!

Game Drop 2: Chaos Cubed

• Releasing June 16th!
• Adds fun things based around physics and adventure, like the Sulphur Cube mob, Sulphur caves and blocks, geysers!

Game Drop 3: Sneak peek…

• This will come later in the year and feature all-red bushes, Dappled trees/biome/wood type (NOW POPLAR WITH SHELF MUSHROOMS), decorative dappled door, AND WOOL STAIRS/SLABS?!
• As well as a new structure: Abandoned Camp that “connects to the mystery of the game” – who placed it there, when, how, why? Someone had an adventure here before you and you continue it 🙂

Community & longetivity

• We had a small vlog from the Mojang Stockholm office.
• The Mojang team has plans for the foreseeable future focusing on the magic of the Minecraft community and adventure! They describe Minecraft as generational in more ways than one, with a focused development approach. They even mention the “next generation of developers”… Do you feel old yet?

Competition for builders…

• Minecraft Movie Build Challenge | Minecraft – FOR BUILDERS!
• Get featured in movie end credits, win private screening, capes and more. Decided by a community vote. It’s only 16x16x32 size and you must “create a structure that would feel at home in one of 4 biomes: plains, taiga, badlands, or frozen ocean.”

Others: Dungeons 2, LEGO & events

• MINECRAFT DUNGEONS 2 coming later this year! Featuring a deep dark portal (it’s real!) and the twisted warden.
• MC Championship events coming tomorrow!
• Twisted Warden LEGO set revealed.
• Twitch Con is holding a Minecraft themed area with large-scale real models of mobs, interactive minigames and geysers!

Minecraft versioning is changing from incremental to “year” followed by drop number – thus we just from 1.21.11 to 26.1 (First drop of 2026, the Tiny Takeover). Note this does not affect anything else, e.g. Your worlds remain forwards compatible!
