Exploring redstone elevators
Could it be, something for the Redstone category on the blog? Yes! And while I have no idea what I’m looking at, last year I was given an exclusive look into the work of builder “MrGanzalla”. His super flat world is filled with countless designs for working redstone elevators, complete with floor number displays.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
I don’t recognize how the pictured lifts work, but maybe you do! For those like me, the Minecraft wiki lists multiple kinds of possible elevators in the game (as of 1.21):
1) Piston-based (Basic column, Fast zipper/spiral, etc)
2) Slime-based (Self-propelling lift, conveyor belt, etc)
3) Scaffolding block (That's it. The block is all you get!)
4) Water-based (Even better since the Update Aquatic!)
5) Minecart elevator (Expensive, fast & space-efficient)
6) Launchers (TNT-based elevator, elytra launcher, etc)
7) Command block-based (also, can't forget modded!)All these elevators vary in speed (slow VS fast) and capabilities (e.g. multi-floor VS single route).
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE?
Of life? Tofu. Of elevators? There are many reasons to build an elevator in-game. These include fast transportation, making an impressive base (or entrance into it), or building a functioning skyscraper! SEARCH ON PLANET MINECRAFT TO FIND & EXPLORE SIMILAR WORLDS:
