Minecraft Movie teaser Trailer drops to mixed reactions
UPDATE: BETTER, OFFICIAL TRAILER 2!
Warner Bros released the teaser 1 hour ago, and people’s opinions are divided. Go watch it and judge for yourself! The movie premise puts 4 real-world adventurers inside the world of the game, where they must survive alongside Steve and presumably escape. Alex is not shown (yet?)
While this is only a first teaser, online opinions are mixed for reasons such as:
- Visuals straying too far from the aesthetic of Minecraft into uncanny valley (The main complaint)
- An AI-generated textured look to the movie (Some still frames from the movie look like fuzzy AI)
- Limiting and badly executed green screen (Little human character movement or lack of shadows)
- The overall unusual, creepy or unsettling vibe caused by the semi-realistic animated aesthetic
- The movie not being what people expected (Especially when it is backed by giants like Microsoft)
It’s being compared with Fallen Kingdom by Captain Sparklez, Minecraft trailers, Story Mode and others.

OFFICIAL PLOT
“Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination.”
“To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.”
