Friday 13th, the unlucky charm (A Herobrine story?)

Today is the day… A Friday on the 13th day of the month! There are many theories as to why this day is considered bad, the most accepted one to do with the Last Supper. But that is not what this post is about.

There is a short and peculiar story I wanted to share, and today seems more than appropriate! It’s nothing scary, amazing or even believable, but without further ado, here is my tale… Quite possibly featuring an unknown player venturing to my single-player adventure.

Story: A strange sighting

It was another bright new day, full of events to happen and surprises to… well, surprise. However, that day I’d get a surprise I wouldn’t expect at all. That afternoon I turned on Minecraft as normal, and thought to myself, “Hey, why don’t I try my hand at survival again?” – or something like that.

I created a new world and thought I couldn’t be luckier. I spawned in the rare Mesa biome; And conjoining it was a desert with a temple and village! I gathered resources and quickly nestled myself in one of the village houses. I soon raided the temple and blacksmith’s and started to mine for ores in a nearby cave system. It was one of the best starts I ever had in a new survival world – or so I thought

After a few (Minecraft!) days I started getting low on items, so I set out in… some direction, and explored the area. I gathered some more clay from the Mesa; Wandered to a nearby forest for wood; And eventually ended up in the desert again. I was near the temple, which was on the far side of the desert, when night started setting in. I quickly turned homewards as darkness quickly advanced – and sprinted home in desperate hope of getting to bed before the night set in for good.

But before I was even halfway through the desert, the unexpected and unthinkable happened… I was attacked by a hoard of maybe a dozen zombies – but it’s not this that was strange… It’s what I saw on the death screen. Right there behind the Respawn and Main Menu buttons stood a figure. It was looking away from me, seemingly towards the rising moon; And appeared dressed like Steve – but I swear to God that it had long hair!

Back then I didn’t think of taking a screenshot… So instead I chose the only other smart option – yes, of course, I respawned and went back to my death place..! Of course, I found nothing – except for a cave near my dropped items. A thought of going in there to search crossed my mind, but just once – right before I deleted the world and took a break from survival, or singleplayer, for quite some time after. This may actually be part of the reason why I eventually got into creative, and multiplayer!

Conclusion and Update Aquatic

And that’s all – a short story that I won’t ask or expect you to believe; But I can assure you that from memory, these events seem accurate. Not that I give it much thought, as it is greatly peculiar! What do you make of this all, any strange sightings of your own? Feel free to voice your opinions below. And a last thought to end the topic – was it Herobrine’s mom?!

On another note, I have some real good news – watery, turtly, shipwrecky news. The Update Aquatic, known as Minecraft 1.13, is to be released in just a few days on 18th July! Expect better water physics, marine life, bright seabeds and more! And some new hostile mobs to balance things out, including the Phantom – flying Monster of the Night Skies. More on this coming soon, though I know Mojang will beat me to it!
