WEEKLY NEWS: Mojang’s interactive Minecraft, Art & Shaders
Hi! What’s new at Mojang and the community? Lots has been (and is) happening, I’ll go over some things.
A MINECRAFT MOVIE NON-SEQUEL: The Movie Block Party Edition begins streaming May 2nd. To my understanding, this interactive version of the show banks upon the many community memes and will encourage audiences to join in on famous phrases and songs.
RELEVANT: A Minecraft Movie detailed Retrospective: Memes, records, sequel, review!
MINECRAFT EXPERIENCE VILLAGER RESOURCE: Mojang presented the first real life interactive themed adventure. YouTubers like CaptainSparkez showed the event’s themed activities. The even is “Spawning around the world soon” with many dynamic locations planned.
PHOTOGRAMMETRY INTO MINECRAFT: Some people have taken the art of photogrammetry (accurately scanning and digitizing the data of real objects) and placed it inside the game. This gives an impressive addition to the “Realistic Minecraft” category of gameplay. These imported locations are humorous with low-poly blocky mobs standing around, and not necessarily useable.
SPRITECRAFT PIXEL ART HELPER: No automation needed here – if you wanted to recreate something as pixel art in the game, sites like this one can help you do that. It converts the image to blocks. (The site is “A general dumping ground for Robbie and Chris. Tools, books, podcasts, and more.”)

This is BIG: Shaders in Vanilla Java Minecraft & Bedrock Edition
BEDROCK SHADERS: RTX? Render Dragon engine? Vanilla Minecraft with shaders? It’s now all live on the beta branches of the newest version of the game!
- New Render Dragon Features for Creators | Minecraft
- Mojang officially adds shaders to Minecraft Bedrock Edition – Dexerto
JAVA EDITING: Someone managed to create a version of shaders using pure unmodified vanilla Minecraft! It’s game-breaking. Their potentially inactive development links:
