GODRAY & PATHTRACED SHADERS
The Kappa shader offers a uniquely impressive experience from the average shader. (See cover pic)
It claims to not only “use physically accurate vales and equations like many other packs” but tweak them “to reproduce what you could observe in nature, which usually goes beyond just having equations…”
Like most texture and shader projects of this ambition, it offers both a free and paid version. The creator, RRe36, boasts a comparably large portfolio of shader packs which you can explore at rre36.com.
INFINITE PROCEDURAL FRACTALS
You’ve definitely seen a fractal before. Fractals are structures/shapes that repeat themselves infinitely at smaller or larger scales. But what about building them in Minecraft? The Fractal Explorer might help.
This niche website explores everything fractals, including some exploration within Minecraft. For more useful info on PROCEDURALLY GENERATING BUILDS, check my post on using Automation and “AI”.
BOBBY MOD VS DISTANT HORIZONS
Both extend your render distance, but in different ways. Note that both will generate files that can start taking up gigabytes of space with lots of terrain.
Bobby: Potentially better for multi-player
Use: Lets you see chunks beyond the server’s view-distance (128 chunks).
How: Stores and re-renders previously loaded chunks.
Best for: Multiplayer servers with low view-distance.
Limit: Can’t render new/unseen chunks; only what’s been loaded.Distant Horizons: Potentially best for solo
Use: Adds Level of Detail (LOD) rendering to show far-off terrain.
How: Renders distant terrain in low detail for better performance.
Best for: Single-player or modded worlds with scenic views.
Limit: May have mod/shader compatibility issues; version-sensitive.GITHUB DEVS DOING GOOD THINGS
