SMP FUN: Creative goes survival & Farming base showcase!
Inspired by city builder Alpine1’s survival series, I went all out and re-discovered the joys of exploring the newest Minecraft updates and crafting a beautiful, intricate AND funcitonal survival base! All in the course of one long yet immensely satisfying weekend with a few friends. Version 1.21.4, with KEEP INVENTORY for a stress-free experience (This will be VERY relevant very soon).
The new versions are immensely satisfying to explore. Many landmarks and surprises with easy access to common materials – I even crafted multiple brushes on the go to brush an armadillo!
Bundles are love, Bundles are life
I went NOMAD mode twice: The first time I went out seeking cactus (for dyes) yet came back with multiple bundles filled with rare wood types, shipwreck and ruined portal loot. But this was nothing compared to the second run. I went out seeing cocoa (again, for dyes), and found multiple villages, 2 jungle temples, cherry biome, many potions, corals, mesa and more –
I had to tightly manage inventory space and juggle items between multiple bundles & limited inventory slots for re-ordering. It was quite the task and I ended up with 14 bundles filled with no slot to spare!
KEEP INVENTORY comes in here: I slept at my home base and no more afterwards, meaning I could jump off a cliff once satisfied with my thousands-block trip. Both trips took me 4-5 K blocks out of spawn.

Piecing together the base & farm
Looks like I am a rich farmer 🙂
Like all my builds, I went layer by layer slowly building up the final result. I, of course, gave myself the most extravagant and modern home design on the server. Once I had the foundations and shell of the house I used the resources looted from my trips to build up interior decor: Add random functional village jobsite blocks (Plus my skin is a villager), replacing the floor, decorating the gardens.
The farm started out as a small square of wheat but quickly expanded into every plant I had found. Almost every tree type on top of beetroot, cocoa, cacti, sweetberry bush, carrot, potato, melon, pumpkin, and even an infinite lava generator from dripstone. That damn cocoa and cacti?- I got every color of sheep! & the original lava lake by my house stayed intact and acts as a bin…hey, keep inventory!
I finished by many painstaking trips to the nether, grinding pigmen until death and repeating to enchant my best diamond tools. Once I got a fortune III efficiency V pick and combined it with an unbreaking III pick, I was set for good. The rest is yet to come.
Now it’s your turn to begin your 2 week Minecraft phrase. /j
