Finally – fish! Coral! Dolphins! – in Minecraft! About time.
Yesterday at MineCon Earth the lead creative designer at Mojang, Jeb, announced an upcoming Minecraft update – the Update Aquatic! Water has always been a big part of Minecraft, especially after ocean monuments have made an appearance. But the deep oceans were always quite dark and still. Until now (well, until the update comes out!)
What things are in the planned update?
The update will completely transform those dark spaces into colourful treasure coves – literally! One of the things to come will be sunken shipwrecks and underwater ruins with treasures! There will also be corals and kelp to decorate the bare seabed, and plenty of sea life to liven up the dark depths. Including different types of fish, as well as dolphins! I might get into survival again…
Water physics will be improved too; Water will finally be able to go through fences, grass and other half-solid blocks! Although my concern is that this will most likely break many mob grinders… now I’m glad I’m more of a creative guy to be honest..! There will also be a new weapon to deal with any threats, on land or underwater – the throwable trident! You’ll be able to enchant it with the Loyalty enchantment – another addition – to make it come back after you throw it. Impaler and Slipstream Dash enchantments will also be added. But what will they do? We don’t yet know, just as how to get them or the trident!
Turtles will also be added as part of the Update Aquatic, which is said to come out around early 2018. New biomes will play a part too, with a new icebergs biome coming for sure! I can smell a survival challenge already…
What about that vote during MineCon, and the new mob?
Ah, yes! The vote on Twitter for the new Minecraft mob ended yesterday as of the time of writing – during the MineCon stream. And the winner is (dun, dun duuuun!..) the Monster of the Night Skies, seen below! At last a proper flying mob, excluding the little parrots; Well, and the big bosses… So far it’s known that it is “attracted to insomnia, and will find players who haven’t slept for many days. It will swoop down in groups and bite your flesh.” The version this scary mob will be added in is yet unknown; So don’t get too excited (or scared!) It’s rumoured to be part of the described here Update Aquatic, but only time will tell!
Not much else is yet known at the time of writing. Merely a day has passed since the big news, yet it already sounds interesting. Well, as many fans and bloggers will tell you already! I may post something more on this, but any big info should swoop down on Minecraft’s official website (see what I did there?) What do you make of this? Maybe: the sooner it comes, the better (even though nearly everything has its downsides)!
